Your job
As a Senior Associate, you will support Senior Lending specialists in arranging and structuring complex corporate financings, primarily for clients in the Energy, Utilities, and Basic Materials sectors. Your responsibilities will include analyzing sectors and business models, drafting credit applications, and reviewing due diligence and legal documentation. Additionally, you will assist in managing an existing portfolio of clients, which involves monitoring and managing risks, handling waivers/amendments, refinancing requests, and conducting thorough credit reviews.
Working environment
The Financing Solutions product unit is fully responsible for delivering credit products and serves as the driving force behind our lending capabilities. This unit provides advisory services, customizes credit solutions, and monitors the loan portfolio. Within Financing Solutions, the Expertise Lending department specializes in offering bespoke credit solutions and services to clients with an annual turnover exceeding EUR 25 million and/or credit facilities above EUR 5 million. Expertise Lending oversees the entire credit process, from loan application through to post-loan care, including structuring, negotiating, and executing credit arrangements. Additionally, this department is responsible for the ongoing maintenance and management of the loan portfolio. Effective collaboration with all stakeholders in the credit chain, including Lending Support, Client Segments, Second Line Risk, and Operations, is essential.
The New Energies Lending team consists of 12 lending professionals with diverse backgrounds and nationalities, all motivated to support the energy transition. The team’s ambition aligns with ABN AMRO’s purpose of ‘Banking for Better’ and our Climate Plan strategy. The team finances a wide range of companies in the sub-sectors of Energy, Utilities, and Basic Materials. New Energies operates across Europe from our offices in Amsterdam, Oslo, London, and Frankfurt, and has a Pan-European growth mandate. The team in Amsterdam focuses on Benelux and Southern Europe.
Your profile
We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate to join our New Energies Lending team. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of energy markets, some experience in lending, and affinity for complex financial transactions. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-impact clients and contribute to the growth of our New Energies lending portfolio. Do you think you're a good fit for us? Check your profile:
- Masters's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in energy lending, investment banking, or a related financial sector.
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in financial modelling.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple transactions and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Deep understanding of energy markets, including renewable energy, oil & gas, power generation and related basic materials.

- The gross monthly salary displayed above is based on a 36-hour work week, including vacation pay and Benefit Budget;
