We are looking for someone to join our EMD team from our offices in Amsterdam. Our portfolios mainly consist of bonds, both hard currency and local currency, but also includes EM Private Loans and derivatives.
The EMD proposition currently provides exposure to in emerging market hard currency and in local currency debt for our clients. This exposure is built both via allocation towards both internally and externally managed strategies. We see fundamental analysis at the heart of our decision-making process and are continuously looking to further develop our analytical framework. Analysis of ESG factors is also an integrated part of our fundamental assessment. The team cultivates research, egalitarian decision making, operational excellence and talent management to pursue an investment strategy that combines active global country allocation and at same time strong focus on downside protection.

As a Country Analyst EMD you will analyze emerging market debt as an asset class and emerging market countries in a global context. You will develop a fundamental and market view on a specific country (bottom up) as well a view on the global environment (top down). As a Country Analyst you will be part of the EMD team and will work in close conjunction with the team members, providing input for the country allocation decision and the overall risk allocation for the internally managed EMD strategies. Conducting research on emerging markets by desk research, analyst calls, research trips and maintaining appropriate documentation of those activities will also be part of your tasks.
The EMD team currently consists of eleven investment professionals working from APG’s Amsterdam and APG Hong Kong offices. We anticipate hiring an Country Analyst for our Amsterdam office. The EMD team is embedded in the Fixed Income platform, as well connected to the other investment disciplines in the organization. The team in Amsterdam is responsible for both the hard and local currency strategies.
Working closely together with Fiduciary Management and the portfolio managers of the EMD team is part of the job. The rapidly changing internal - and external developments regarding emerging market bonds and pension industry topics guarantee a dynamic environment to work in.

The Country Analyst Emerging Markets Debt that we are looking for is a strong team player, brings excellent analytical and communication skills and has a proactive (working) attitude. Self-motivation is in your DNA and you have a healthy ambition level.
Furthermore we ask for:
- A university degree in either economics, econometrics or similar, and/or you have a postgraduate degree relevant to the vacant position (like CFA or VBA) or willingness to get such a degree;
- 5-8 years of experience in research or analysis of emerging markets;
- Excellent verbal and written command of the English language;
- Willingness to travel from time to time;
- Strong knowledge of financial markets and portfolio management.
